People Leaving, People Coming In

Today heard that a colleague will be leaving soon. Quite a surprise to hear that she'll be leaving to take up another position at this time of the year. Usually, don't we finish a whole year (or entire cycle)? Maybe it's my conventional mindset of "got beginning, got end" ( in Chinese "you shi you zhong"). This year, there'll be several colleagues retiring. That would mean several new additions to the team. Sigh. Perhaps I've grown used to the same group of people and being older now, it seems that I'm not as sociable as before and I'm not that keen to get into the cycle of getting-to-know new people anymore. We shall see how things go, ya?

Honeymoon Destination.......WHERE?!?!?!

Deciding on the honeymoon destination is soooo tough! Not that the places that my Darling & I want to go are different. In fact, we're both pretty easy-going about the places. At first we wanted to go a more remote beach resort @ Thailand. However, we're not very keen about travelling for 2 hours. Then we toyed with the idea of going Bali (romantic ya?), but the security level of the place is quite a question mark. We'd love to visit places, do little shopping and spend time with each other. Sigh! I never know it's so difficult deciding on where to go for honeymoon! How come it's not that tough when deciding where to go for vacation with my frens?? I guess finally we're re-looking at Thailand as a possible destination as recommended by a couple frens who went there for their honeymoon 3 years back. At least, we're sure that we can feast on the cheap and good food, do lots of shopping @ Bangkok and still enjoy the scenery.... most important of all, my Darling is with me!! =)

Blogging to my BIG Day

My dear brother asked that day "U blogging to your wedding?" Hmm... tho a gd fren has started to do that, I've never thought of doing likewise. Well, doesn't everyone go through almost the same procedure when preparing for their wedding, I wonder. Perhaps it's more of the fun, interesting things you encounter or frustrating incidents that irk you, that your frens are interested to read about. Oh, well, let me share some of the fun, interesting & frustrating moments with you then!

First of all, I'm pleased to tell you that my Darling & I have decided to tie the knot on 15 September 2007. That's only about 5 more months to go! (Oh no!) Most of the preparations are done. We have chosen our wedding clothes, bought the wedding bands and booked the photographer.

Initially, I thought trying out gowns will be extremely fun! It turned out little tiring for me. Why, u ask? The gowns are all too big for me! Well, yes, I know they'll be altered, but imagine me trying to hold up the gown while trying. And the gowns aren't light, mind you! I can't imagine myself walking down the aisle the actual day! I hope the bustier gown won't drop!! Ha! (And don't tell me to put on more weight... If I could, I wouldn't be this slender now! Considering the amount of food and number of meals I have! Haha!) Come to think of it, I kinda look forward to see myself dressed up so grand that day... hmm...

The next thing my Darling & I are discussing is our honeymoon destination! Yeah, holiday!!! That's another headache for me :( I can't decide where I want to go! I've only got a week's leave, so we can't go anywhere far and long. We'll wait till Dec to go for a longer and further trip... Meanwhile, we'll have to settle for somewhere closer to home and a shorter honeymoon. I'm looking forward to that too! A much welcomed break, and of course, being able to be with my Darling every day, every moment, everywhere!! Yipee!! =)

China Cont'd....

It was terribly cold when I was in Li Jiang in mid March. Not a nice feeling to be cold when you're sick! I had to buy a scarf there to keep my neck warm. Thank God for a fren who lent me her thermal inner wear (& of course my Darling who insisted that I bring them). It kept me really warm when we visited Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.

You will see a few more pics which I took in Dali. That was where we went to from Li Jiang. I still prefer Li Jiang, as the city is more ancient (tho I believe have been commercialised plenty as compared to the past). It's really interesting to visit old towns and historical places. Weird at the same time. It's the feeling and thought of the people who walked the same street years, decades, centuries ago, as you are walking now . Imagine, what kind of people were they? What kind of clothes did they wear? What did they do for a living?

How was the culture like? How did the entire era revolve till the present time? It's so very interesting to me! How I love looking at old buildings! My imagination surely runs wild (& far) in places like that! Haha!

Virtually Asleep for a Long Time...

Wondering where I've been these past...3 months? Been MIA (Missing In Action) for a long time due to busyness. Well, who's not busy, u ask.

Been on a field trip to China during the March holidays. Was a short trip, about 5 days. It was an Art trip, meaning we were there to draw, sketch, paint and what not. To gaze at the beauty of nature. The scenery is indeed awesome, beautiful. We went to Li Jiang, Yunnan. Li Jiang used to be an old city (I think it still is in some sense). It's a beautiful place! The whole city is surrounded by mountains! There's this Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. I know the English name sounds weird...sounds better in Chinese :)

I was sick the whole week before I flew off... the weather in Li Jiang was super cold (was about 10 degress celsius when we reached). Thank God my Darling (who's been there countless times) packed my luggage for me ('cos I was sick). He packed in whatever that I needed to keep warm in that cold weather. Though unwell, I was still able to travel and walked around (the whole day, mind you!).
